In retrospect, a lot of these people looked…VERY normal. But who even remembers what people were wearing to the 2009 VMAs? All we remember is that this is the VMAs wherein Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift, thus kicking off a pop culture butterfly effect that literally none of us could have anticipated.
Also: a LOT of people from The Hills were present, Lady Gaga looked bonkers and I’d completely forgotten, and it truly was the era of Spray Tan Gone Wild.
