Joel Coen, unusually without his brother Ethan, debuted his latest film at the New York Film Festival: The Tragedy of Macbeth, a black-and-white telling of the Shakespeare play that stars Denzel, Frances, and Brendan Gleeson, and which I assume will put the first two right at the front of the Oscar race. Here’s hoping “That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold: What hath quenched them hath given me fire” can apply to at LEAST one of their acceptance speeches.
