I was reminiscing about going to NYFW with my therapist yesterday. The gist was basically that it was super fun, but I don’t believe I could physically do the job now because I don’t have that kind of stamina anymore, and I’m so glad I got to do it back when I could. Looking at these photos of the Coach show just took me right back, because the front row is full of the kind of stars who are likely to come out to a bunch of Fashion Week shows because they have a new project, or something is premiering, or their long-running gig just wrapped and they need a new one, or they’re just in a phase of their career where the press boost is welcome…and then also J.Lo, who does not need to do ANYTHING she doesn’t want to do and who did not sit with the CW/WB-type celebs but instead between Anna Wintour (who was surely annoyed she had to come to this and miss the tennis, but Coach drops huge ad money) and Edward Enninful. This means two things to me: Coach paid Jennifer a LOT to show up (which is standard operating procedure if we’re talking about a big star at a show that doesn’t necessarily make sense for their brand, like the time Chloe Sevigny and Maggie Gyllenhaal showed up at Miss Sixty, who I believe paid them like $60,000 each, IIRC), and Jennifer is getting a Vogue cover. Good for her on both counts! Also present: Lil Nas X, who also doesn’t really need the press but who I could believe would want to make the rounds just for fun (and who I’m sure was also compensated). (I do not think the CW/WB types get financially compensated because they and the brand are in a symbiotic PR relationship.) ANYWAY, here we go again! Let’s look at outfits. Everyone, naturally, looks like they’re wearing a boot.
