Welcome to our regular round-up of celebrity Halloween costumes, AKA the post where I always fail to figure out some incredibly obvious costume and need Fug Nation to guide me into the light. As you may have heard, this year SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher asked actors not to dress like characters from struck projects – like, say, Barbie – to, um….a lot of complaints and actors making fun of her. I get it: This seem intense and feels abjectly ridiculous! But also, guys, Fran is TRYING!!!! She’s at the end of her rope!!
Even SNL got into it.
A lot of folks ignored this request (but not Florence Pugh, who went as Guy Fieri), but I also think we got a slightly wider range of costumes thanks to the restrictions, including some stuff that seems entertainingly last minute, as well as classic wholesome options like “a witch,” and characters from older movies, like Sandy and Danny from Grease. (I have some some confusion about whether or not that is okay; some people interpreted the request as NO movie characters, and other as CURRENT movie characters? I honestly don’t know? I suspect some of the actors didn’t either.)
No shocker, but we also got a lot of classic Britney.
