All right, Fug Nation, sharpen your pinking shears and let’s get to work:

From this angle: I liked it. The bodice is very chipper, and so is she, and the two things together are like a unicorn wrapped in a rainbow and then printed with Matt Bomer’s mobile number. But then I caught a glimpse of it from another angle:

The buttons are… okay? But the fabric in that light looks more like stage curtains, and those sleeves suddenly look a little nutballs. I find myself wanting to make them a lot shorter. Although the problem with them right now is how they pull and look so tight right up where they attach, so maybe the answer is hacking them off altogether and making cap sleeves that are in the same pattern as the top? But I like that the black sleeves tie it all into the heavy dark skirt. There is a reason I do not design clothes for a living, and that’s only partly that I don’t know how to sew; I’m passable at giving notes but subpar at dreaming up fixes. In other words: I’M A CRANK. So, fix it, dear Fug Nation. Or leave it alone. The choice is yours.
