I just realized my headline is a bit of a lie. The lane to which I was referring is Carey’s habit of wearing a low-key black number to these things. But then I remembered that she DID wear a very fun Schiaparelli to last year’s Met Gala, and, in fact, looking at her archives….her sartorial past is way more interesting than I remember, including at the LACMA party this weekend. She’s such a low-key celeb in terms of dramz that my brain must have decided her closet was equally chill. Anyway, she’s made a return to Schiaparelli for the AFI Fest’s screening of She Said, which I can’t wait to see, and it’s basically like a VERY fancy hotel duvet became sentient and decided to hitch a ride on said low-key black dress to check out the film as well. This is high-level kookiness but I’m also not mad about it.
