These two movies are chock full of familiar faces — Katie Holmes! Drew! Jessica Alba! William Fichtner! Sarah Polley! Michael Vartan! — yet so very, very different. (I have to be honest: I can’t stand Never Been Kissed, from how utterly wrong it gets everything about newspapers and what she would do as a copy editor, to the buffoonery of her character, to the implausibility of being asked to root for her and Michael Vartan, to the fact that her NOT being underage DOES NOT ABSOLVE HIM). And yet the Internet tells me they premiered this week, two days apart, so we might as well celebrate them together? Listen, if this slideshow tells you nothing else, it’s that all the fresh-faced baby boy wonders of this era used a lot of hair gel.
