I saw this movie sort of on a whim the weekend it premiered — maybe the actual opening day? — along with a lot of other folks who had the same idea, and I remember so clearly sitting in the audience being delighted by how silly it was.* Everyone felt sort of pleasantly surprised and tickled, and those vibes clearly extended to its premiere, where everyone seems to be having a BLAST.
*Also, every time I realized I’ve messed up a three-point turn and it’s going to take me like 45 tiny adjustments to turn my car around, I do still refer to it as “having to Austin Powers it:”
