The Critics Choice Association honored Black performers last night, beginning — for me — with Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, who was excellent in King Richard and is getting raves for Nickel Boys this season. As as we’ve noted before, she is fearless when it comes to turning up the volume. No one can follow this, but unfairly to them, I’m putting her first in this gallery anyway. Sorry not sorry.
