Anne’s team going to Harper’s Bazaar instead of Vogue for a big cover promoting The Devil Wears Prada Again is an INTRIGUING CHOICE and I want an oral history of how this came to pass. I suppose it’s POSSIBLE Anne will do Vogue next month but it would be VERY unusual to do both major glossies because neither of them like that, and Vogue in particular would not want to be beaten to the punch, I wouldn’t think. Whoever made this call should get a big bouquet of flowers, though, because both of these covers are GOOD. Sexy, arresting, interesting, and fun. Anne looks great, and they look like REAL magazine covers. Everyone should be pleased.

The profile is very well-penned and also as one might expect: Anne has been famous long enough that she knows she has to give a little something, and she’s also savvy enough not to say anything outright bonkers. Meryl Streep provides a lot of nice quotes; Anne discussed her stress levels in a way that seems honest but also very relatable. And this bit made me laugh:

If Hathaway’s friend group is focused on “harmony,” mine is focused, at least some of the time, on our falling faces, and I admit that Hathaway’s skin is held up as a North Star. I try, for the group chat, to figure out what’s going on there. Hathaway credits not drinking and using Shiseido products (she’s a brand ambassador); beyond that, she says she doesn’t want to “discuss medical information.”

Girl, she was just asking about your lasers and micro-needling routines, not whether you did, in fact, get a face lift! (She looks great regardless.) To me, this says, she DID get a face lift! Don’t anticipate THAT note!

PS: Also, what’s that lipstick?
