At first I thought Anne Hathaway was just randomly waltzing down the street in a lacy turtleneck, but Informative Caption tells me she’s filming WeCrashed about “the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.” Anne plays one chaotic narcissist, and the other is played by Jared Leto, who may himself also be a chaotic narcissist. And I have to tell you, if Anne picks up anything from being in Chaotic Love: Narcissist Edition, I’d be okay if it was this vibe. I am not generally a fan of twee lacy turtlenecks, and I think her jeans look too tight, but there is a really appealing DGAF socialite glamour to this that reminds me of that time in 2006 when Socialite Rank tried to make the New York City scene a nationwide gossip experience (complete with casting Olivia Palermo as an Upper East Side Eve Harrington of sorts, and a wheedling letter that turned out to be faked). Indeed, if someone wants to make a movie of THAT period, then I’m not opposed, and I nominate Anne as tribute. She’s a decade too old, but we’ll make it work. Just look at her. This woman can stomp ANGRILY around a Bryant Park tent.
