Zac Posen’s first public foray as the creative director of Gap Inc. was dressing Da’Vine Joy Randolph for the Met Gala, and that went very well, to say the least. The Internet is now swooning over this second effort from Zac x Gap, on Anne Hathaway, but… I feel like it is ALSO somehow saying the least? I can’t get excited about a deconstructed shirt dress that’s doesn’t feel very assertive to me. The bodice pleating looks like a crinkled Kleenex you pull out of your purse and wonder for a second if you can still use or if it will actively put dust and dirt INTO your nose, the corset/bra situation is boring to me, and the dress itself is so… limp. The white pumps are also a total nap (not Zac’s fault) and something about the makeup is harsher than usual; I think her eyebrows might have been done up too strongly (also not Zac’s doing). Maybe I’m just being EXTRA today, but I can’t figure out why everyone is like MOTHER IS MOTHERING over this. Perhaps a croissant will help. (A croissant always helps.)
