I know this is DRAMATIQUE but I think… I really needed Cannes? There is obviously a lot of shit going on in the world STILL — the planet is on fire and angry and dying, Covid is still trying to assert its dominance, people are denying science on both fronts — and these red carpets were so light and lovely and beautiful to watch. Even the weird bits with tummy eyes (I cannot get over that). It’s like… a very very small slice of hope, strung onto a chain with other premieres and parties, that we can get out damn acts together and bury our faces in each other’s necks with abandon. I have been very good this year, Santa. Please continue this off-season giving.
