This is an interesting collection of looks; they’re mostly dark and monochromatic, with only two pops of color. She seems to tend to unconventional shapes in very conventional colors — although, for what it’s worth, she went for an unconventional shape and an unusual color for the Golden Globes and that was not successful. I have to wonder if the reaction to look that pushed her back toward less eye-catching looks for the rest of awards season. I’d argue that IIL was never in the running for any major American awards (although she did win National Board of Review and New York Film Critics Online) and this was sort of her introduction to the American market, and an opportunity for her to establish her personal stylistic archetype — you know, “ingenue,” “cool girl,” “goth,” etc — on a big stage and I don’t think that happened. To be clear: She may not care about this AT ALL and is happily back to Norway to do her own shit. I am very interested to see what she does next, career-wise AND stylistically.
Regardless: Inga worked with Nicky Yates for this awards season, an A-list stylist who also does Naomi Ackie, Cailee Spaeny, and Felicity Jones (probably her biggest long-term client). She’s also previously worked with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Claire Foy but I’m not sure if those relationships are on-going.
