I was talking to someone the other day about how superstitious athletes are and then started thinking about superstitions in general. I don’t consider myself an inherently superstitious person, but I absolutely knock wood in any scenario where knocking wood seems appropriate. I also would prefer not to walk under a ladder, and I also don’t open umbrellas in the house. (Those two seem like “things that are superstitions but just used to be safety advice.”) So I perhaps don’t wholly know myself. (Can anyone? That’s a chat for another day.) Do you have any superstitions?
