The Percy Jackson book series is wildly popular, but the 2010 movie, far less so. When the rights landed in Disney’s lap, the author Rick Riordan (on the right up there) and his wife Becky (on the left) signed on to help develop a TV series that I’m really looking forward to; a lot of assholes on the Internet are up in arms about casting Leah Jeffries (above) in a role that was originally written as a white character, to the point where Riordan stepped in and pointed out that they were racist trolls who needed to kick rocks, so I’m really rooting for the series to be fantastic. Up in the middle there we have Aryan Simhadri in the kicky sweater, Walker Scobell looking like he’s about to take his turn jousting at the Ren Faire, and Jeffries, smiling so big in a fuzzy jacket and fancy dress and hopefully about to have the BEST time of her young life as an actress. By which I mean: the show premiering, not simply being at the Empire State Building, although I’m sure that’s also very nice.
