This was supposed to be more of a banner year for Jennifer, but her album flopped and her movie did nothing to help that, and she had to turn her world tour into a Greatest Hits situation to try and make up for poor ticket sales. She’s got a new movie coming, Atlas, alongside Sterling K. Brown, Simu Liu, Mark Strong, and Lana Parrilla, but my guess is she’s at a lower ebb right now than she expected to be. The good news for her is that it doesn’t matter, because she’s still J.Lo, and it’ll take a lot more than that for people not to be interested in her when she walks in a room. I could see her tipping into the “garden” part of “Garden of Time” tonight and looking like a human flower, maybe with Giambattista Valli. Or doing very sheer and having one single flower snake around her, courtesy of, say, Zuhair Murad, maybe. Or, she could bring it full circle and rewear this Dolce & Gabbana dress on its 20th anniversary, although given that the EXHIBIT theme is essentially outfits too fragile ever to be worn again, a re-use seems like a strange choice.

Fact of note: The only designers Jennifer has repeated at the met are Versace (2006, 2015, 2019) and Ralph Lauren (twice, and they were her last two appearances, 2021 and 2023). Will she go for the Ralph trifecta?
