I have to be honest: This season, I watched the least postseason hockey in a long, long time. Curiosity about the Spurs-Knicks series took over, plus Formula 1 has been great, and we decided to subscribe to the Dodgers channel for the summer… besides which, every team I cheered for lost. The Penguins and Kings were out, then the Sabres/Canadiens series was between two teams I would’ve wanted to win the whole thing — but they were really just competing for the right to get rocked by Carolina in the conference finals, which is exactly what happened, ultimately to Montreal. I just sort of fell away from it after that. But I can’t IGNORE the jubilant men with beards! It’s not THEIR fault! Well, it sort of is, actually. But congrats to them anyway. Carolina swept the round 1 and 2 series, beat Montreal four games to one, and then dispatched Vegas 4-2. They were as inevitable as their weather counterparts.
