We got the sad news last week that punk icon and corset-designer extraordinaire Vivienne Westwood died on December 29th at the age of 81. She led a fascinating life; her New York Times obituary is full of incredibly interesting tidbits, like “she once took a class of 8 years olds to see Battleship Potemkin, Sergei Eisenstein’s epic 1925 film about proletariat revolution,” among other things. Vulture has a nice round-up of statements about her from celebs with great pics — as Heather said to me when the news broke, we hope Helena Bonham Carter is taking it okay! — and this remembrance in The Guardian is likewise very nicely done. As for us, please enjoy some of her best red carpet moments. There are a whole lot of high points.
