Deadline hosted an Emmy-boosting day, at which Vanessa Hudgens wore a blouse that tried creative but terrible things. Real talk: I don’t think Vanessa was good in Rent; it’s that almost everyone else was SO BAD that they made her look good by comparison. (I don’t think she performed that role like she understood it; more like she’d simply watched an Idina Menzel performance and was doing her best approximation.) But I like her, somehow — and not just because she’s a former Fug Madness champ, but that certainly does make me fond — and I want the best for her and her role is out there somewhere. Good luck on the Emmy campaign, though, kiddo. It would certainly be fun to have “Emmy nominee Vanessa Hudgens” floating around in the universe.
