All kidding aside: Tyler Perry is the first black man to own a major movie studio in the United States — a 330-acre complex in the Atlanta area. For reference if you’ve been here, or honestly even if you haven’t, that is three times the size of Disneyland, and also Warner Bros. here in Burbank (Universal is 415 acres, but that also includes the theme park and City Walk, which I think is cheating). This is a huge achievement, and while of course she did not walk the red carpet that I saw, it drew out Beyonce to support him:

Her dress is by Yousef Al Jasmi, and interestingly, we’ve seen it or its likeness on Keke Palmer and on another of Destiny’s children. I love her lipstick and darker hair with it. Jay-Z’s tux is by Tom Ford and I find the bow tie comically large. Sorry, Mr. Carter. But I cannot tell a lie.
