I’ve seen the above photo a million times — although I did not know it was for, per Informative Caption, a “Royal Film Performance of the British film The Battle of the River Plate,” a movie which has TRULY been lost to the sands of time and with which neither Marilyn nor Arthur Miller here are actually involved, but which did use real ships at sea, which is neat — but never seen Marilyn’s gown from the front:
