Tracee Ellis Ross took over Every Brilliant Thing from Mariska Hargitay (who took the handoff from Daniel Radcliffe), and wore every underwhelming thing for opening night. She has so much personal charisma, and this is her Broadway debut. It’s mystifying that she’s clad in hosiery and a dress that look like she built it from stuff she found at an abandoned, shuttered Macy’s nobody that ever thought to empty. The ONLY thing that works about this is her head, and given the choice I would of course obviously prefer for people to gush over my face, but every other part of this outfit is being rude to her.
