Hunter Schafer is at Comic-Con to promote Blade Runner 2099, and she certainly did so in something designed to get plenty of press coverage. This is from the most recent Marc Jacobs collection and she’s worn it EXACTLY as styled for the runway.
Hunter is one of the few people who can carry this — she’s a former model herself, after all, including literally walking for Marc — and she’s always had an editorial elan that serves her well. I REALLY thought this specific look would eventually show up on a celebrity as is from the waist up, but with a stylist eventually eschewing those Saran-wrap hot pants in favor of, like, almost anything else, and I wish that’s what had happened here. Hunter is working this as much as a person in the real world can work something so cellophane-y without looking like a corporate gift basket, but someone at Check the Tag referred to this as “futuristic mcdonald’s employee” and (a) correct, (b) thank you for nailing that so succinctly, because it is EXACTLY right, and now I cannot see anything else, and also I want fries.
