The Shark Is Broken imagines Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss sitting around on the set of Jaws waiting for people repair the mechanical beast. It sounds like a comedy, but at times a dark one, as this version of Shaw — played by the actor’s son Ian, who co-wrote it — grapples with some of his own bleaker history. It sounds really interesting, and I wish I could go see it, but I shall have to wait for it to tour here and hope that some of our theaters still exist (The Geffen is in dire straits). In the meantime, here is Broadway’s big bash for it, which includes Christian Slater as himself. Because he’s… just there, himself.
