We went to the Dodgers game the other night, and they did a drone show afterward that was sponsored by Disney, so it was a big ad for Moana and was set to the soundtrack. Other than missing out on “Shiny,” it was great — the songs from that movie really are excellent. I haven’t been especially interested in the live-action remakes of these properties — Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin are the only ones I saw, and they were not good, ESPECIALLY Beauty — and I suspect that won’t change with this one, mostly because the original still feels kind of new itself to me?!? It’s all pegged to retaining sole ownership of the IP, but it’s exhausting nonetheless. For the sake of Catherine here, I hope they didn’t mess it up.
