Thanks to The Queen’s Gambit, this was the year that Anya Taylor-Joy kicked herself into the big leagues, both career-wise and fashion-wise. Not that she was lacking for recognition before, but her miniseries caught fire during the pandemic, she was nominated for and won a bunch of awards, and she got Law Roach in her corner for most of it. Right now, her good friend is styling her, and it almost feels like Law incubated her for a while and, for lack of a better analogy, taught her to fly — straight to a Face of the Year honor from the CFDA (a good night for Law, as Zendaya won Icon). I’m curious how it’ll go from here.

A few extras here: First, a Richard Quinn which we’ll see again in a few days so I’ll just link it here. Next, the second dress she wore on Globes night, which I believe was also custom Dior:

For the SAGs, she wore a Vera Wang that we barely got to see on TV, thanks to Zoom:

It’s a very fancy nightie. They really kept it to simple straps for the Zoom shows, and we missed a lot of the detail. What can you do? Videoconferencing is a cruel mistress.
