As regular readers know, I am not a huge fan of comic book movies — you may recall that I have never been able to watch Avengers: The One Before The One We Just Had without falling asleep, despite the fact that it is a very loud movie! — because my own personal filmic jam is people staring sadly out a window, crying, in period clothing. HOWEVER, I keep up with them enough to do my job, OR SO I THOUGHT. When these photos loaded, I was like, “since when is Angelina Jolie in a Marvel movie? Wait. Is Maleficent a Marvel movie? NO, YOU IDIOT, that’s VERY Disney. Um, was Angelina an Avenger and I didn’t know it? No. There is no way. I’ve seen at least 56% of those movies and covered 100% of their premiere. I’d know if Angelina Jolie were in them.” Well! The reason I didn’t know any of this is because I guess I was in a heat coma when her Marvel movie was announced last year, but it’s not out yet and I don’t think they’ve even started filming. (It comes out in November, 2020 — a period of time where, uh, I think a lot of people will need the distraction!) Now I’m all caught up, and so are you.
Also to be discussed: What the hell is the dress code at Comic-Con, once and for all? And why are all those photos so AWKWARD? Why are you making Natalie Portman do any of this?!
