Please allow me a light rant: A few people who received awards at this event did not walk the red carpet. This drives me bonkers because it’s annoying for my job, but I also find it lightly perplexing at an event like this one. You are not accepting a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award because of your devotion to the art. It’s not an Oscar (where, of course, EVERYONE walks the red carpet because they want people to know they went to the Oscars). You’re accepting it because it’s sweet, and also for PR. And if you’re doing this for PR, then why aren’t you walking the red carpet so the press can more readily cover you? In for a penny, in for a pound.
This is fluid, of course, like everything — Serena Williams needs zero press but I can see why she might accept a Kids Choice Awards, because it’s nice. I understand why she skipped this red carpet. But, like, Anna Kendrick — no offense, Anna! — needs the PR at this point in her (confounding) career. (Anna Kendrick should be much more famous than she is!) Renee Rapp, who also got an award, also skipped the red carpet, which makes no sense because much of America does not totally know who she is and she could use a little coverage in Who Wore What features on wherever that shows up anymore (TikTok?). Adam Sandler walked the red carpet! So can you!
Anyway, let’s look at what people wore. Please note: There were a LOT of random (to me) people at this event, who are social media stars. I did not spend money on pictures of people that I, middle aged lame-o, did not recognize. I am very sorry if I skipped your beloved!
