As you know, I’ve often thought The Crown’s sheer expensiveness, and expansiveness in casting, pretty ably covers up that it’s not a very good show. Now that I don’t have to watch for work, huzzah, I can’t decide if I will bother — though I admit to being curious about the new crew. Personally, I think Imelda Staunton might’ve made a better Queen Mum during one of the previous installments, and Charles Dance — who played Dickie Mountbatten last season — CLEARLY should have been held aside to be Philip in this section. Jonathan Pryce looks readier for a Bernie Sanders biopic than The Crown. Perhaps I’ve talked myself into watching just to see if I’m right.
