Another Oscars tradition is a Chanel dinner, at which people shove themselves into whatever is on offer and try to look pleased with it. In truth, on balance this is an improvement over what’s come before, but I still cannot muster any feelings of excitement about this brand — although it did serve Kate Beckinsale exceptionally well on this night.
