When we ran this originally, we — and many of you — thought the embroidery was beautiful. Jessica wished for it to be “uninterrupted by her flesh,” whereas I would accept the skin stripe a bit more easily if we could please lose the large black tablecloth that appears to be sliding down her person. These days they would probably design that bit differently, like tying it around her waist and having it cascade down in the back as a poofy train, or turning it into detached ballooning sleeves that are really more like individual arm capes. But I still think the win is just to make it a column skirt that continues the embroidery. I don’t know why they overdesigned it this way. Maybe everyone at the atelier got hand cramps?
