I can’t totally figure out why Sarah Hyland, late of Modern Family, was tapped to co-host the CMTs this year. ABC doesn’t own CMT — that honor goes to ViacomCBS — and she is not to my knowledge an aspiring country singer, so all I can think of is: She’s engaged to but more famous than Wells Adams, a former Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise contestant who’s now the bartender on the latter show, and that franchise features live country music performances multiple times per season and routinely gathers the cast at Stagecoach (which then became the most annoying and enduring after-the-fact plot point on the last season of BiP). It’s a crooked line, but it’s the best one I can draw. And she wore things. Herein, Sarah and her co-hosts Kane Brown and Ashley McBryde, neither of whom changed clothes in the usual grand awards show tradition so thank God Sarah was there.
