Obviously, Wills and Kate have been out on a constant basis (the entirety of our coverage of their NZ/Australia tour lives here, including a Round Up of the Cuteness of The George; we’re going to have a post of Fun Stuff We Missed, and a round-up of Kate’s Wardrobe from the tour tomorrow, so make sure you pop back if you’re into that). While they were out, all the rest of the British Royals more or less continued to stay inside, presumably eating half-off Easter chocolate and watching reruns of Top Model. That being said, Princess Letizia went out in a continued demonstration of her Law & Order: Spanish Inquisition wardrobe and Princess Charlene actually looked kind of happy, despite the fact that she’s wearing THE. WORST. PANTS.
Elsewhere:
- We pitted Dr Mindy Lahiri against Kate in this week’s Vanity Fair Who Wore It Best, and the winner might surprise you.
- People StyleWatch investigated what WILLS wore on this trip and I say yay. Menswear — and British tailoring — is of interest. So many suit jackets to button and unbutton.
- The Express is reporting that, according to Palace Spokespeople, “So successful has the tour been that the Duke and Duchess plan a ‘significant upsurge’ in royal duties over the next few months. After a break to recharge their batteries, they will begin a much busier than usual programme of events over June, July and August, a senior royal aide said yesterday.” So that’s good for all of us. The palace ALSO turned around and noted that they’ve actually been planning said upsurge since before the tour, but I can only imagine that the massive success of the tour makes them more excited for it.
- Royal Central did a whole history of the British Royal Family Planting Trees In Australia. They seriously do plant, like, a lot of trees. What about a nice hedge maze for once?
- Tatler put together a slideshow of people wearing Catherine Walker (who did Kate’s red coat and her green coatdress). It’s a lot of Diana, a dash of Carole Middleton, and a handful of Random People Whom Tatler Cares About And The Rest Of Us Couldn’t Pick Out of a Line-up. Some of them are divine and some are wacky. Oh, the 80s.
