Our series of Awards Season Retrospectives continue! ICYMI, we’re previously looked at Carey Mulligan, and Jodie Foster. Today: Danielle Brooks, who was nominated for her role in The Color Purple — the same role for which she was nominated for a Tony! — gets her time in the sun. This collection of looks isn’t quite as cohesive as Mulligan’s — although it did have more purple than I remembered — and it’s more exuberant than Foster’s. There are some looks here that I don’t think totally hit the mark, but when Danielle’s team (led by stylist Jennifer Austin) nailed it, they really nailed it.
