Every year, we like to take a look back at a person’s Awards Season Wardrobe in toto. The hits, the misses, the stylistic vision and sartorial throughlines. Today? Carey Mulligan and her VERY CUTE haircut and her parade of I’m Nominated And Everyone Thinks I Was Great in This Imperfect Movie But I’m NOT Gonna Win looks. Carey’s currently being styled by Andrew Mukamal, who also styles Margot Robbie and Billie Eilish, so he’s been very busy lately and I hope he’s taking a nap right now. His relationship with Carey is fairly new; she was working with Nicky Yates as recently as 2022. FWIW, I don’t think changing stylists aways means anything. Sometimes you just want a change (much like when you decide to switch hair stylists). For my money, Mukamal is one of the best stylists currently working so I get deciding to get in on that action. Let’s dive in. There’s a LOT of black, and several recreations of gowns dating from the era in which Maestro is set — very thoughtful work as usual.
