As you may know, we’re on a reduced holiday schedule for the next two weeks so that we can charge into awards season with a vengeance. We have a whole slew of fugtrospective slideshows planned on all kinds of rad women — and one dude, sorry dudes, but also not sorry — and we hope they’ll give you something to ooh and ahh and chat about while we’re all drinking hot toddies by the (emotional or actual) fireplace.
We begin here: Teyana Taylor has had an interesting life. When she was only 15, she was credited as a choreographer on Beyonce’s “Ring The Alarm,” which got her a record deal, a spot on My Super Sweet 16, and a gig dancing in one of Jay-Z’s videos. Her first single came out in 2008 and was ironically called “Google Me,” which is exactly what I have done, so props to her for that. She sang for a while, memorably performed in a 2016 Kanye video that exclusively featured her doing complicated choreo with insane abs, acted in Stomp the Yard 2 and a Honey sequel and the new Coming 2 America, and married and had two kids with NBA player and Dancing With The Stars champ Iman Shumpert. Now she’s single and heading into what might be a really stellar acting career. All that and she’s only 35.
So, it surely seemed inevitable that we’d do a slideshow about Teyana… and here it is. Some is great. Some is not. Let me tell you, she LOVES a catsuit and some sheers, but she also loves a big fashion statement and I think we’re going to get more of them in 2026.
