Let me preface this by saying I think Rachel Brosnahan has the right idea — I think ever Mrs. Maisel ended, she’s been experimenting a little more with her clothes, and so she should. Try it all! Maybe it won’t work, maybe it will, but how else do you know? She’s now doing a couple appearances for The Amateur and then next up will be Superman in July, her first truly major promo cycle since Maisel. I hope everything they’ve done gives them a refined approach for that, because it’s been SO uneven. The Dior newsprint mini was a cute idea for Lois Lane (well, except for the Galliano of it all), but just a little too high and tight on actual Rachel. This felt like an idea that needed more time in the oven. The sheer skirt here is just… real bad. And while they’re right to revisit this maroon color, this Adeam two-piece just has so many BITS hanging of it. I kind of want to turn the top into a proper blazer-dress, not one with enough weird straps and folds that it looks like a backpack you’d order off Temu and then realize the price of sending it back is more than you paid for it.
Truly, sometimes jeans, heels, and a leather jacket are all you need.
