Yesterday, the community note for Priyanka Chopra Jonas was to put her hair back and be necklace-forward, as her Bulgari jewels (she’s an ambassador) got a bit lost even though her outfit was fantastic. And I wished she’d had a longer necklace to settle into her dress’s deep vee. Well, Priyanka had a trick up her sleeve, and that trick was: a second event, at which she absolutely got the mega-baubles and absolutely scooped up her hair to make sure we can see them. Her dress is ten levels of extra — glamorous, major, and yet also hella amusing — but works perfectly as a frame for the whole experience. She’s the real-world version of a mermaid perched in a large open shell.
I wish I had seen her actually walking around in this. It does not look like it was easy — and yet magically, between the ruffles and the emeralds, Priyanka isn’t totally lost. You still notice how ridiculously pretty she is. She still owns the moment. I would look like had rolled around inside someone’s dust ruffle.
