Before you weigh in, you should know that Paula wore this look at an event in Laguna called “Pageant of the Masters Announce ‘A Night of Magic Gala’,” and honestly to me it feels perfect for something at which magicians are present and celebrated. (The Pageant of the Masters, if you are unfamiliar with it, is likewise perfectly kooky and eccentric.) She also pulled the winning raffle ticket for a new Volvo. I think this is exactly what you want to get when you have Paula Abdul come play MC at your long-running and beloved eccentric summer beach town event. It’s formal AND kooky — a little magician-y herself, a little magician’s assistant, slightly Fancy Sea Creature (perfect for Laguna), a bit wacky, artisty in a “your rich aunt who collects weird glass art kind of way.” Chef’s kiss!
