I’m sure a certain corner of the Internet will sense a tremor in the force and come tell me I’m a jealous slob, so I will try to allay their concerns by pointing out that I am not a Hater, but it has to be said: This is terrible. It’s chaotic. It’s “Oom Pah Pah” from Oliver!, served stone-cold. Her stylist does a nice job with the tour fashion, but for all other appearances, I think she needs to change it up. Lately, her clothes very rarely feel like anything but a costume, and half the time they’re overwhelming her — which should be hard, given that she’s got a lot of confidence and personal charisma and she’s a total babe. And yet.

I can’t get over how clumsy this migraine of an outfit looks on her, a flop abetted by the gym hair and a mediocre purse choice. I’m not even sure I think the shoes entirely do the job? And I don’t buy that she is too busy to be fussed about it right now, because you don’t dial up a Vivienne Westwood for dinner with Zoe Kravitz if you don’t care that you’re going to be seen — and all her Chiefs outfits (I am hoping to round those up when the season ends) are purposeful as well. I think it’s just time for a reboot. Whenever she’s ready, she should pay Law through the nose to come hit the reset button and Celine the shit out of her. Doesn’t have to be exactly that, of course. But for someone whose tour has smashed all these records and has created all these dress-up traditions among fans, AND spawned an entire app where people predict which stage outfits she’ll wear on a given night, Taylor’s fashion too often plunges far short of legendary and I think a new era is in order.
