Emmy nominees are announced in July, and the awards themselves are in September. An Emmy Luncheon, as this was billed, seems hella premature — but, at the same time, at least NBC isn’t pretending this is anything other than that. It’s not, like, NBC’s Spring Spectacular, or Broadcast Brunch. They are revving the Emmy engine and they want you to know it. But here is my question: Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy aired on Peacock, so is Renee Zellweger here JUST out of loyalty, or do we think they’re really going to try and put that in as a TV movie because it wasn’t released here in theaters? Can they DO that? Surely not?!? It made about $131 million overseas. Maybe Renee is just a SUPER nice, supportive person. Or maybe she’s secretly a cameo coming up on Poker Face.
