I know I’ve seen The Dark Crystal, but all my brain can recall of it is, “That’s the creepy Jim Henson movie, right?” I guess somebody else had fonder memories, because Netflix has turned it into a TV series (approaching it like a prequel) and Variety even gave it a warm review. Who knew! And Nathalie Emmanuel here, last seen on Game of Thrones being separated from her head and currently on Mindy Kaling’s Four Weddings and a Funeral series, is part of it. She looks fantastic here, as a human, and the whole look has a sexy disco Diana Ross feel to it. My stumbling block is the bodice. It’d be more flattering if it weren’t trying overly hard to be SO scanty. It’s like a purple wave receding, and I wish the tide would come in again just a little.
