To begin! Some housekeeping: I used to hold this post until all the skating was totally over, but that was because we used to be at Fashion Week when it was happening and I had too many other things to deal with. But I’m home this month! So I decided we might as well cover it all as it unfurls — which means the pairs event is up first.  (I covered the Americans when they competed at Nationals, so won’t be repeating them here, but I do want to say that they NAILED it in the team competition and the US would not have that bronze medal without them, and I was so proud of them.) This battle for the podium was THRILLING: I was SO EXCITED for the Germans, who really earned their gold medal. And thank goodness, because if they’d lost due to Bruno Massot doubling his side-by-side triple in the short program, I think he’d have thrown himself off a bridge (perhaps to avoid Aliona Savchenko killing him). They were AMAZING. Lights out, as they say. I am so thrilled for her that she finally got that gold medal — and, of course, I want them to make out now. Even though she’s married to someone else, and he’s engaged. Whatever. MAKE OUT!
