This is lovely. She looks great in it. I’ve never seen Karen Gillan in anything other than Selfie – which deserved a better title and a longer run on my TV — but she seems like a reasonably genial human being and I’m glad she’s getting a payday, and also being sent shiny, shiny pretty dresses to wear. Somehow this manages to be formal and casual at the same time– it really works on her.
That boring-yet-on-topic bit out of the way, we need to talk about Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. All due respect both to The Rock, and to arguably Guns N’ Roses’s best song…do we really need this? Was there any person in the world who was like, “yeah, but I need to know what happens next in the world of Jumanji?” Are we about to start making random sequels to other movies from 1995? Are we about to get Eight, the sequel to Seven? How about Apollo 14? What about Bridges of Madison County: Bridge Over Troubled Water? Oh, maybe we need a Clueless 2: Back In The Classroom, where Cher comes back to Bronson Alcott High School as a very unlikely English teacher after Miss Geist retires — and falls right back into the matchmaking game. Hang on. Wait. I actually might want that one.
