Who knows if this movie is any good (Variety called it “solid,” but seemed a little lukewarm), but at least we can all rest confident in the fact that — while no one sounds like Aretha — at least Jennifer Hudson can really, really sing. (It’s been interesting to read about her preparation for the role, too.) Regardless, I am (a) excited to see it, and (b) thrilled that such a big-deal movie is finally coming out with real, proper events! (It was pushed from December due to the pandemic.) Some aspects of her premiere look are dishy, and some of them I have some questions about. We have much to discuss!
