This is a lovely, dramatic Valentino gown, full of retro-glam flavor, the likes of which belongs in a movie about a woman who throws a cocktail party to celebrate the death of a neighbor she hates… only for MORE MURDER to happen. It’s possible this break from Thom Browne happened because she’s already worn everything they have, but regardless, it is a nice change (as was the other noteworthy one, an Elie Saab from late last year). Just because she CAN wear all that Thom Browne and generally not look ridiculous does not mean she NEEDS to; nothing against Mr. Browne, but may 2023 be a year of variety for her and for us all.
We DID still get a bunch of poses where she looks like she just felt an earthquake, but whatever, we can’t win them all.
