It feels like just a month ago that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were on their honeymoon in Paris… because it was, in fact, exactly a month ago. Their second summer wedding of 2022 just took place, after which they jetted off to Milan and surfaced on a shopping spree at the Brunello Cucinelli store. On this trip, Jennifer is once again resurrecting stuff she cherished in the aughts, alongside a man she cherished then too; first it was the jeans, and now it’s hats. In truth, this is a bit more of a combination of this hat or this hat of her pre- and post-Affleck years, and Celine Dion’s backward tux. Truly, everything old is new again. I saw on social media that someone wondered if J.Lo getting a do-over on this wedding will reset the planet back to 2002 so that we fix all the shit we’ve since broken. I’m here for that and I would even wear that hat, if it would help.

While we’re here, we should discuss Jennifer’s wedding gowns from the weekend in Savannah. (Apparently Ben owns a house there, which is not only on land that was once a plantation, but on which he had a new house built in 2000 specifically in “plantation style.” Maybe based on 2000-era consciousness, that seems less WTF, but throwing your wedding there in 2022 — on a property no one knew you owned before now, and after you’ve learned you have a slave-owning relative AND watched the world begin to reckon with fetishizing the South in this manner — sure seems like A Real Choice. I don’t think it’s as flagrantly problematic as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds getting married at an actual plantation, but to me it’s worth at least interrogating whether the property itself and its history, which is believed to contain an unmarked slave graveyard, has been… sensitively handled, for lack of a better term, and whether perhaps this was best avoided?) Ahem. Anyway, for their wedding at an eyebrow-raising location, Jennifer had Ralph Lauren design this:

Vogue also has glimpses of and sketches of the other two dresses, which are featured fleetingly in this carousel:

None of them seem very conducive to partying, but maybe that wasn’t the point. Or maybe she had a fourth mini that she kept to herself. You KNOW J.Lo likes to hit the dance floor at these things.
