One entire LeBron James ago — so, 35 years — NBC delivered us sarcastic Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, and Rue McClanahan at their finest, and Betty White at her most delightfully sunny and dingy. The Golden Girls ran for seven seasons and 18o episodes, and yet for whatever reason the scene I always always link to is this one from the season 1 finale (I thought it was the pilot because of what they’re saying at the end, but it was a flashback, TRICKED AGAIN BY MY OWN LAZINESS):
I cannot get through this without laughing, and neither could Bea and Rue. I’m dying to know if Betty White had a trick for keeping a straight face, or if she’s just blessed with supreme muscular control.
