I am very excited about Winning Time, the new miniseries about the Lakers in the ’80s that premieres on HBO on Sunday. As a person who was in elementary school in Los Angeles during that time period, and a Lakers fan who also loves period pieces: THIS IS MY JAM! (Although I was a mere child during this particular era and will not be able to fact-check it the way I could, say, The People Vs. OJ Simpson.) Additionally: Every living human is in this. You are in this, you just didn’t know it. But for real: Julianne Nicholson (who is having a hot year on HBO between this and Murder Durder)! Mr. Carrie Coon, Tracy Letts! Sally Field! Rob Morgan! Adrien Brody (as Pat Riley, this is VERY good casting)! Jason Segel! Norm Nixon’s son DeVaughn playing his own dad! Not all of these people came to the premiere. Maybe you did, though?
